White bookshelf with black interior
It's getting there.
The interior and exterior will need one more coat of gloss paint. The shelves too.
I'll have to take my time with this part of the process, so there is a straight edge between the white and the black. A small flat brush will be used to achieve that and some masking tape.
The country-style doors which were on this piece will not be going back on - we're happy to have a plain open bookshelf.
It really is becoming an entirely different piece of furniture and I can't wait for it to be finished.

ReplyDeleteMake sure you use the blue (expensive) masking tape and peel it off and soon as the paint is dry. I have found it to be the best when trying to keep colours separate and neat edges. Looking forward to the finished product pics.

Just a tip: if you're having trouble with the edges, try using a small (tiny) roller. It will give you great coverage and it eliminates the sight of brush strokes.

ReplyDeleteI usually feather (brush lightly) the paint across the edge of the masking tape so it doesn't go on too thick and remove it straight away,(that's on walls anyway, I guess it would work for surniture too).
