Pinning and hair

Jason will not be pleased to hear that I have found another way to while away my time...when there is dust to dust.

Pinterest has finally piqued my interest. It is a place where you can easily flick images of things which take your fancy - it works very much in the way a mood board does.

While I was pinning today I found this new to me blog called Hair Romance and it's all about hair. Yeah, I know this is a renovation blog but just humor me during our short renovation hiatus.

Above is an image for a French roll twist and pin (bun mohawk) that I tried while Son #3 was asleep. My hair is quite long at the moment and I tie it up quite a lot during summer. This style will do the trick when I need to go out somewhere more exciting than doing the groceries.

Me and my hair. A self portrait.

Hmmm...I am yet to master it, but with practice it will join the repertoire of hair styles that will come in handy.

Anyway, if you have long to medium length hair and need inspiration, Hair Romance is a fabulous place to visit.

  1. I saw the other style on your Pinterest board. I loved that one as well. Can you do that for a post too? Please?

Your hair's very shiny. I like your stripy short, too.

  3. Oh yes, I love that 'do'. You have fab hair, so nice and thick! Mine is rather long but misbehaves so is often in a bun or a pony. I might try this 'do' and check out the website.
MMMC sent me an invite to Pinterest which was great but I am still trying to work it out.

    Best wishes,

  9. Ooo - nicely done. I love a suggestion for tying up my hair in a way that is not the usual pony-tail. Love to see more pics!!

  13. Ha! I know, the renovation blog is morphing. I blame that Faux Fuchsia - her good grooming is contagious. Soon Mr Rooney will be wearing designer hi-vis...and Jason will be ironing his painting shorts. Have a nice weekend too. x

  15. I like your hair better than the first image.... you could start a hair and torso blog when you're living in your finished silk purse. You hair, Jason's torso... or is that a bit porno...? I'm actually not at all like that... I'll stop now and go and get a drink. Surely it's wine o'clock in Auckland?

  16. Ok, so now you obviously have to share your shampoo/conditioner/shining product of choice. Your hair is gorgeous!

  17. Ha! Ann, you are hilarious but I think you're on to something...I could experiment with my hairstyles themed to a renovation project..beehive for a new piece of 60s decor, patio hair for the deck...

Anna and everyone who commented on my shiny hair, I just use normal shampoo and conditioner - one that doesn't contain sodium lauryl sulfate or other harsh chemicals because it irritates my skin.

I also accept my hair. I don't try to make my hair be anything other than it is. I learnt my lesson from the perm I had during uni...if I could turn back time that would be one of the things I would erase!
