Contemplating a Tuscan peach-coloured wall

This morning, I was contemplating this Tuscan peach-coloured render which adorns the exterior walls of the Sow's Ear. I was contemplating painting it but a few drops of rain on my head made the decision for me.

So easily discouraged, you say? I am very unlike Jason, who plays Russian roulette with his paint brush. He would've had a punt and painted the wall. And it probably would've been finished because the rain turned out to be a very light shower.

Sometimes it pays to gamble as I continue to contemplate the peach-coloured rendered wall.

Rendered wall in the old peach and new white. We made a start painting the bottom section of the house

We are continuing the white colour on the bottom part of the house. It's going to look schmick!

I've said it once and I'll say it again, it should be a criminal offence to paint anything Tuscan peach outside of the Mediterranean. I'm confident, the new classic white colour scheme will bring the Sow's Ear out of its early 1990s rut.

Also, thanks so much for your feedback regarding the iPhone. Your tips and hints were great - app happy I've become! The phone is easy to use and it's great for my new job.

  2. I think it's an act of charity to cal that colour Tuscan Peach rather than Onion Soup. Your white will be much, much better.

  4. Oh Anita, I am devastated. Just read the iphone post. I am the last woman standing, the last with the uncool unconnected to the net nokia. The technology police will probably hunt me down now. Sigh. Please do give the Iphone granny a whirl. I love her!

  5. Ah yes, still sends shivers down my spine when I think back to the "Tuscan" craze. At least you will get maximum impact before and after photos!

  7. When I first read the post title I thought you were going to paint the a wall in a Tuscan peach colour. My immediate thought was "please don't". Then I read the post and you were painting over Tuscan peach. Phew, I was worried the Tuscan look was going to make a come back....

It will look gorgeous in the white.

  9. The Tuscan peach scourge reached Germany too, in fact the other day I saw a new-build McMansion that wasn't only painted Tuscan peach but had faux columns out front too...God save us.

  10. We have a couple of pieces of peach coloured render just like yours..and under one piece you can tell it used to be a kind of greeny/bluey kind of colour as well! I think they all need to be painted..the white looks good.

  12. I figure why make any uninteresting part of a house a feature colour, is that a nice way of saying 'let Tuscan colour schemes remain only in Tuscany'?? Love Posie

  14. Peach + tuscan + rendered are three words that would make Zoila turn over in her grave. Banish it all as quickly as possible and please, never speak of it again.

  15. Fast to paint, long time to regret. I remember painting a small bit of wall, then sharing a beer and pizza with a friend (Pooch)while we perplexed, visioned and pondered. Final decision, we liked it the way it was. Ha! That was easy.

  17. So glad your contemplations were in the direction of tuscan peach to white, or I'd have been dissuaded from commenting all together in the spirit of "if you don't have anything nice to say..." I'm excited to 'meet' your blog and your Queenslander - I've fallen in love with these houses since moving to Brisbane from abroad earlier this year.
