There is a dodgy little window in our bathroom that we are going to replace.
The said dodgy window is just thin bits of mismatched glass slotted into a frame and held in place with wood nailed around the frame; similar to louvered windows...However, you can't open or close the window; it's permanently semi-open.
Jason's given me the measurements and has delegated the task to me to get this thing made, as it's not a standard size. He told me to get a single pane with arctic glass casement.
I wish Jason would just go out an order it himself...
So where do I go to get this thing made? What should it be made of, if that's even an option? And I want to get coloured glass too, but choosing the colour is the big question? Amber, green, rose, or just clear arctic?
All these questions! Can anyone help?

Hmmmm...tell me if I remember correctly. The bathroom looks out into the sunroom, and the casement windows there are clear arctic, and the door has some amber panels. At the opposite end of the sunroom is a room that also has amber panels. Where are the windows with green panels?
ReplyDeleteIf the only colored glass on that side of the house is amber, I'd probably stick with amber, but if you've already mixed amber and green near each other, I might add rose, just for fun.
Good point. It's a mix of amber and clear on the sunroom side of the house...the green is in the kitchen and our bedroom...the kitchen windows open out onto the deck though, so will the new little window... xx

DeleteMaybe green to match the squares in your kitchen windows? Does it need to open for ventilation? Or have you got that covered? (Not a long comment, I'm watching 'Turtleman'.)
ReplyDeleteI think green is easier to source than amber...extra ventilation would help but it will also keep out those pesky geckoes. And what is this Turtleman? Am I missing out? xx

DeleteWoodworkers for sure or colonial warehouse at eagle farm. They work w albion glass i think so you can go choose your glass ( they have pretty big range and colours) and they'll do the rest. Look forward to seeing end result. I love green, but have soft spot for amber. Will compliment your timber framing on the servery.xx

DeleteThere are heaps of places to get your window made, Duce, Darra Joinery, Colonial Warehouse and Finlaysons come to mind. Do you get much light in that window? If you bathroom is white, you will always have a coloured hue from the glass (if you select a coloured glass that is) in that room. xx

DeleteGreen or rose sound pretty..I really am not a fan of amber as I lived with it through the seventies then loathed it in the eighties and nineties when it panelled the window next to my front door..hehe! I am glad you've been given plenty of sources to go to to get it made.

DeleteGreen and gold in the bathroom is a bit too patriotic for me! I'd go for the "white" in the same pattern. Green and pink are really pretty though.

DeleteIt looks like it might be the little window to the little room. We have the same one. A lot of western sun comes in so we have never been able to decide on what glow should come in through the loo. Rose might be more flattering at the witching hour. I look forward to learning from your experience.

DeleteWatching this window with interest, we can't get the last pane of coloured glass we want for the veranda windows. Have been quoted $100, out of the question.

DeleteI'd go the green. We have green casements in our ensuite & I love them. Even chose recycled glass tiles (green of course) to match them. Just make sure you can get an old piece of glass, not the new stuff. Never the same & looks cheap.
