The work on the valance has begun. Bright and early on Saturday morning, it was a hive of activity at the Sow's Ear.
Mr D, our builder, is also back. Jason was so happy to get the extra assistance, company and use of better quality tools. It's never much fun doing this kind of work by yourself with the bare minimum of tools...
Together, the two of them accomplished quite a bit in the morning. All the frame work is up and ready for the palings to be nailed on to it.
If all this nice weather holds up, the valance should be finished by next week. Here are a few photographs from the weekend...

It will be wonderful to have it done by the time the hot weather comes around. I didn't realise you had so much space under your house...what rooms are they? (sorry for being a bit nosey...don't reply if you don't want to!)
ReplyDeleteHa! No worries Carol. It's pretty much open space under the house but there is one room and a toilet. The laundry is under there too...we hope to renovate the space down there when the boys are older and want their own space, but that means restumping and some digging etc Xx

DeleteI once purchased a valance for my bed and was very proud, but see now that my effort was as nothing compared to your monumental enterprises.

DeleteJason and Mr. D seem to be zooming right along. I had no idea they planned to be done by next week. I thought it would be a much longer project. The place is going to look gorgeous when they're done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dana, it would've taken a lot longer without Mr D. Having an extra pair of experienced hands and the right tools makes all the difference. There is no way Jason could have achieved as much in the same time. xx
