Mind you the area is full of great places to eat now. xxbrismodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18169335258762403261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2390135910400025884.post-40194578579818372192014-07-02T14:40:51.699+10:002014-07-02T14:40:51.699+10:00Thanks Amy. I loved the gold pipes - the owner has a strong artistic streak. xxbrismodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18169335258762403261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2390135910400025884.post-14259428099578444172014-07-02T07:53:19.217+10:002014-07-02T07:53:19.217+10:00What a great place to have lived in. Too bad they never built the restaurant or shop.

Before buying my house, my daughter and SIL lived in a huge multi-story apartment building. The basement had several shops and galleries, a restaurant and a grocery store. I think they found it very convenient to live in a place that was virtually self-contained, if need be. Food shopping was less expensive elsewhere, but it was nice not to have to leave the building if you ran out of eggs or had a craving for ice cream.Dana@Mid2Modhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03055460107477850683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2390135910400025884.post-53003914384820384542014-07-02T00:26:00.821+10:002014-07-02T00:26:00.821+10:00It was really interesting to see your tour and rea...It was really interesting to see your tour and read a bit more about the building. I don't think that I could live with those pipes exposed in the bathroom, gold painted or not! Also I would need more room in the kitchen I suspect, but otherwise I find them very intriguing and imagine that it would be a great place to live. xxAmy at love made my homehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17111180584250029433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2390135910400025884.post-30216425970685418742014-07-01T22:25:03.601+10:002014-07-01T22:25:03.601+10:00Thanks Jane and Lance. Torbreck was an incredibly ambitious project for Brisbane at that time...I think the observation lounge was mostly to add further appeal to this whole highrise concept...a bold mid-century flourish? A store and restaurant were planned but were never realised and the roof top garden was never built due to financial problems. At any rate, the observation floor enjoys the best views of Brisbane and the residents are very lucky indeed. xxbrismodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18169335258762403261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2390135910400025884.post-85632586791964205102014-07-01T22:16:55.130+10:002014-07-01T22:16:55.130+10:00Hello,

However, we cannot help but be drawn to those which still have many of the original features and take us back to the days of our childhoods!

The observation floor is truly amazing with some breathtaking views. Interesting to wonder why this is incorporated into the building.Jane and Lance Hattatthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16831890261259302647noreply@blogger.com
