Neglected Queenslander - the outside creeping in |
We drive past this house when we take the rat run to school each week day morning. It is an example of what happens to a Queenslander home when it is neglected. Actually, any home that is neglected.
This house looks to be in mostly original condition, give or take a few changes over its 75 or so years. I'm fascinated by houses which have been unaltered structurally...even when they are so dilapidated.

Someone handy (with spare dollars) could really transform this old place. I'll be keeping my eye on this place to see whether it is renovated or detonated. I have my fingers crossed for renovated.

What an amazingly original kitchen! Lots of potential there definitely!
ReplyDeleteOh I hope someone will fall in love and do it up.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you said renovated.
ReplyDeleteSo many people want to 'tear down' and rebuild something hideous now-a-days.
I hope it gets renovated, too.
Ohh I'm getting all excited about that VJ and you know why :)

ReplyDeleteOoh that is exactly the kind of house that would suck me in, especially that overgrown fairytale garden. Keep us posted. melx
ReplyDeleteMy 1st thought is these pics look like someone is currently living there.....I am with everyone else I would love to see this as a project.

I hope they renovate it! The kitchen might be old but it is kind of sweet. It would be sad not to rescue the house. Rachaelx
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope they renovate it! I hate seeing beautiful old houses pulled down to make way for a McMansion. Ugh!

that house looks to be a unique one.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to give my house the same look.
I adore this house! Look at the space in that kitchen and bathroom. Clear the jungle outside, clean up the inside, install some basic new amenities and it's eminently livable without too much expense..then you could take your time and develop it further. Massive potential!
ReplyDeleteI have a conflicted soft spot for those old Brisbane kitchens having once lived with one for about seven years. It makes you wonder about all the conversations and decisions and relationships that unfolded in that room over meals over the decades. The rocket shaped tea dispenser reminds me of the one that my elderly neighbour had.
ReplyDeleteI hate to see old houses torn down. I hope someone renovates it too. You should buy it, you need another project!
ReplyDeleteOooh I'll have it,I'll have it!! That kitchen is perfect as is esp the stove, the lino and cockie poo would have to go though and the bathroom needs a "makeover".Hope someone saves it.Laughed at your recent comment-Jason is my painter guru,ha.
ReplyDeleteJason and Mr Rooney could purchase it and practice for The Block;)
ReplyDeleteLove your post and I too, despite my mod leanings think a reno would coax this beauty back to life! Or maybe I can transport her to my fabled imaginary 'farm' as a new project?
ReplyDeleteThank you for following me too. It was such a nice surprise after publishing today's post and contemplating my hubby's comment, I was having an attack of blog guilt!

If Jason and Mr Rooney need a new challenge they should buy this one. Even worse if you can believe it.
ReplyDeleteHey Jo! Wow. I can't believe that house! Definitely a challenge but it could be such a beauty. xx
ReplyDeleteI can imagine this house would come up a treat. Be a great blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of terrazzo floors, and can imagine this would be beautiful with some TLC.
