L to R: 1960s hooped glass vase (maker unknown) and candle wax vase by Frantisek Pecency for Hermanova Hut.
I liked the toffee colour and shape of the hooped vase - it has a Scandinavian feel even if it's pretending.
The clear vase is my first foray into the mass-produced world of mid-century Czech art glass. Wow! It's all about texture with Sklo Union, which is my latest obsession...!
Here is the newly adjusted art glass collection on the plate shelf in our kitchen. I know, it's a very random assortment, but it is also a great burst of colour for our white walls.
I love how you have them all on display like that - your plate rail is fantastic! And the bright colours against the white wall looks fab!
ReplyDeleteYay! Sklo Union is such a great thing to collect at the moment. So much more reasonably priced than murano and scandinavian and the pieces have such a great 60s/70s vibe. I have that one too. Love the whole idea of communist mass produced too :)
ReplyDeleteThat display looks great! I love the mix of colours. I also love vicariously shopping through you!
ReplyDeleteYours in having someone else spend the money,
PS I'm starting to regret giving Child 4 a ball for her birthday ... there's too much bouncing of it, in the ceramics-filled loungeroom, for my liking.
Your display looks fantastic. I have a friend who has a similar display of coloured glass in her bathroom...matched with the towels of course!!
ReplyDeleteLove your 'random' collection - they are so random they are just right (if you know what I mean)! The new additions are gorgeous too. Have a great weekend. Michelle
ReplyDeleteI love your collection and a great spot for it all. Have been wanting to start one of my own but that's as far as I've got!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous display! I love art glass too but really just have to stick to the paperweights. I have a lovely solid vase from Hoglund Glass in NZ which is great, but that's about it. The shelf is a great spot to display yours :)
ReplyDeleteGee that plate rail looks good. Do you have a cat? I can see my kitten having fun up there. I would have to blu tack them into place. And isn't it great to collect something which is affordable as opposed to impossible to find and outrageously expensive.
ReplyDeleteBeing a lover of 18th century glass, I can understand your obsession - if that's what it is. I have always avoided art glass, but I must say that it looks good on your shelf up there.
ReplyDeleteYour shelf is beautiful - the colours look great against the white wood. I may have to consider whether I have enough to display them likewise...
ReplyDeleteYou've never been tempted by a gaudy Murano, Tom? I'd be very tempted by a nice Georgian baluster stem glass if it ever came my way...but I have to limit my obsessions to what is cheap and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteMurano, yes. I like those candy-twist little bowls, with flecks of gold in them (I am ashamed to say...)
ReplyDeleteI adore that glass display. How clever you are! It's the happiest of shelves. I am SO bad at collections like that...what a lovely gift:) Meredy xo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for displaying them. Just the right amount of color! Have a nice weekend! monika
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love those little pops of color! There's a sale on vitrocolor glass over at gilt today that you might find fun...
ReplyDeleteThat plate shelf is just perfect. A brilliant line up of colours and shapes set against a white wall. Genius!!
ReplyDeleteThey look great on your kitchen shelf Anita. Glad you found some newbies to add to your collection at a reasonable price. Have a lovely weekend and happy voting! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWOW Anita your glass display looks fabulous, simple but a lovely burst of colour!!!
